Bombay Coated and Special Steels IPO GMP

GMP stands for Grey Market Premium. It is the extra amount some traders are willing to pay for IPO shares in an informal market before listing, on top of the issue price. This market runs outside the stock exchanges, so the figure is unregulated, unverified, and can move sharply within a single day. A high GMP does not confirm a listing gain, and a low one does not rule it out, because it tracks short-term sentiment rather than the worth of the business. A steadier read on the IPO comes from the company's financials, how it uses the money, its valuation, and the risk factors set out in the Red Herring Prospectus (RHP).

About Bombay Coated and Special Steels Limited

Incorporated in December 2019 and based in Andheri West, Mumbai, Bombay Coated and Special Steels Limited is a steel processing centre. Its business is converting steel coils into value-added processed steel products. It took over the running business of the proprietorship M/s. Bombay Steels in 2021 and converted into a public limited company in 2025.

Its core processes are precision slitting, cut-to-length processing, shearing and embossing of steel coils, producing slit coils, embossed slit coils, blanks, embossed blanks and sheared blanks. It acts as an intermediary between primary steel producers and end-users, serving original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs), mainly in the home and commercial appliances sector and general engineering. It operates four facilities, at Wada and Bhiwandi (Maharashtra), Ghiloth (Rajasthan) and Sri City (Andhra Pradesh).

The company's promoters are Vijaykumar Himatrai Gupta, Nitin Vijaykumar Gupta and Bhawna Nitin Gupta.

What are the Key Strengths of Bombay Coated and Special Steels (as stated in the RHP)

  • Established relationship with JSW Steel Coated Products for the supply of steel coils.
  • Long-standing relationships with customers, including OEMs and ODMs.
  • Strategically located manufacturing network enabling just-in-time supply and cost-efficient operations.
  • Integrated and advanced steel processing infrastructure.
  • High entry barriers driven by authorised supplier arrangements, capital intensity and customer approvals.
  • Experienced promoters and professional management team.

Financing the cost of acquiring capital equipment under existing lease arrangements with Siemens Financial Services₹15.77 crore
General corporate purposesBalance

The amount for general corporate purposes will not exceed 25% of gross proceeds.

What are the Company Financials of Bombay Coated and Special Steels

Restated figures, in ₹ crore.

Profit After Tax (PAT)30.5428.6721.1420.20%
Net Worth121.5883.0554.3649.55%

2-Yr CAGR is calculated from FY 2024 to FY 2026. Revenue grew fast, but this is a low-margin steel processing business: raw materials make up about 90% of revenue, so the profit after tax is a small slice of revenue (around 2% to 3%). Adjusted EBITDA is the RHP's own measure. Net Worth is the total equity, which rose partly because of equity shares issued during FY 2026.

Key Risk Factors

The RHP lists several risk factors. A few of the key ones are summarised below. Please read the full RHP for the complete list.

  • It is substantially dependent on a single supplier, JSW Steel Coated Products Limited (and/or its holding company), for its steel coils.
  • Raw materials make up a very large share of revenue (about 87% to 93%), so it operates on thin margins and is exposed to steel price movements.
  • It depends on a limited number of customers, with its top ten making up about 67% to 74% of revenue.
  • Its performance depends heavily on certain end-use sectors, particularly home and commercial appliances.
  • It has a high debt-to-equity ratio and significant working capital needs.
  • It has experienced negative cash flows from investing and financing activities in the past.
  • It has had certain discrepancies in its statutory filings with the Registrar of Companies.
  • It does not have long-term purchase commitments from customers, so orders can be reduced or cancelled.
  • Its manufacturing facilities are spread across several regions, and any disruption at one could affect operations.
  • The company, its promoters, directors and certain promoter-group members are involved in legal and tax proceedings.
